Audio & Video Components

Inside and out the Grand Am VT is equipped to be the ultimate tailgating companion. The goal of the car was to provide entertainment through the televisions (XBOX360, Satellite TV, or DVDs) and to create the loudest high-quality audio solution possible. The car is complete with a 7" LCD headunit, 19" LCD television, fourteen speakers, and other components completely customized to fit the design of the vehicle.

Audio & Video Controls

The root of the controls is an Alpine IVA-W205 head unit with a 7" LCD touchscreen and DVD/CD player in the center orange console. This system controls all of the audio and video throughout the car. Providing varying inputs to the head unit are coaxial and RCA jacks mounted behind the rear seats which allow connection to the built in DirectTV receiver, XBOX360 outputs, and the portable satellite dish. Additionally, a Horntones mp3 controller is installed in the center console to control the loud bullhorn which allows the car to play the official gobble, Enter Sandman, fight song, Victory March, and more!

Speakers and Audio Equipment

The primary drivers of the sound coming from this hokiecar are three JL amps custom painted with the same orange paint used on the body of the vehicle. Two JL 300/2v2's each power two Kicker L5 Solobaric 10" subwoofers, while a JL 450/4v2 powers four different JL VR525 5.25" crossover pairs. Two sets of woofers and tweeters are installed in a pair of custom kick panels (painted maroon) and the other two sets are installed directly in the factory door panels. The Kicker subwoofers are installed in the trunk behind a custom orange fiberglass facade. Rounding out the sound are two rear 5.25" speakers in the back seats and two 5.25" speakers installed in the trunk shroud with custom VT-shaped speaker openings backed by white speaker grill mesh.

Video Components

In addition to the 7" LCD headunit which receives the input from DirectTV, the XBOX360, DVDs, iPOD, or other A/V device, there is a 19" flatscreen LCD screen installed in a custom fiberglass enclosure installed underneath the trunk lid. This custom setup allows the trunk to be popped at the tailgate location to create a perfect television viewing system.
