About the Grand Am VT

The Grand Am VT (or Hokie Car) is the product of approximately four years of enhancements and whole lot of Virginia Tech admiration. The car is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 which up until 2005 was a completely stock vehicle used as a daily driver.

Slowly, but surely, the car received color changes, equipment upgrades, and more until it reached its current form. Everything from electronics, to a paint job, and tailgating essentials was added.

On November 21st, 2009 Matthew Bolling's Grand Am VT was announced as the First Place winner of the Crazy for the Hokiemobiles competition sponsored by the Virginia Tech Licensing Department, the On-campus Bookstore, and Volume Two Bookstore!

The car, in its current form, was built by Matt Bolling, Neils Wheels in Richmond, VA, and Extreme Audio in Mechanicsville, VA. The final current product contains about $30,000 in modifications to the stock vehicle. All of the design (inside and out) was done by Matt Bolling through everything from pencil sketches to engineering drawings on the computer, the paint job and fiberglass work done by Neils Wheels LLC, and all of the electronics upgrades and controls by Extreme Audio.
